Saturday at the 2026 College World Championship had a little of everything: first-time playoff teams, local schools beating their seeds, and a women's doubles game that didn't end until 33-31.

Group play is done, and the Round of 32 is set for Championship Sunday at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas. Here's who made it, the storylines to follow, and how to watch every round of college pickleball's world title on PBTV.

I love the atmosphere here at Worlds. Seeing all the colleges here competing and making memories is the best feeling. On top of that, getting to watch the pros play right next to us is surreal. -Adrian Hall

FAU and UVA lead the Round of 32 with three teams each

Schools can enter more than one team at the College World Championship, and two programs made that depth count. FAU and UVA each put three teams into the Round of 32.

That gives both schools three separate shots at the world title on Sunday.

Oklahoma State and Texas State reach their first playoff bracket.

Two programs will play in a College Pickleball Tour playoff bracket for the first time this weekend. Oklahoma State and Texas State both advanced out of group play, and both got their first taste of the postseason on the biggest stage of the fall.

The hometown effect

Playing close to home seemed to help. With friends, family, and classmates within driving distance, three regional teams outperformed their seed in group play and earned a stronger playoff seed for Sunday:

  • Texas A&M 1
  • TCU 1
  • Oklahoma State 1

In DUPR terms, that's performing above expectation, the same thing that moves a player's rating up.

A 33-31 marathon in women's doubles

The longest game of the day belonged to Spring Arbor 1 and SMU. Their women's doubles game went to 33-31, with Spring Arbor pulling out the win. That's 64 points in a single game.

Doubles standouts from Saturday

Men's doubles

Po Chiao Chen and Takumi Matsuda, the best performing international team in the field, finished fifth out of the 36 men's doubles teams.

Bryce Larson and Brenton Jolley took the long way. After dropping a game in pool play, they fought through the playoff bracket all the way to the semifinals. Utah Valley came in finishing forth.

Women's doubles: a North Carolina rematch

Two teams from the North Carolina Super Regional met again in the semifinals. On Oct. 18 in North Carolina, Alabama's Emma Roberts and Kiki Onyeagocha beat UVA's Vivi Pham-Ngo and Alexandra McDonald 21-14 in the bronze medal match.

The rematch went the same way. Alabama won the semifinal 15-10.

Roberts also won Friday's women's singles open title, 11-0, 11-5.
