PPA Tour Europe Barcelona recap: Castillo's triple crown

Judit Castillo went three for three. She swept women's doubles, mixed doubles and women's singles at PPA Tour Europe Barcelona, while Katie Morris medaled in every bracket she entered and an underdog pair took the men's doubles title by beating higher-rated teams.
Here's how the week played out, with the DUPR data behind each result.
Judit Castillo takes the triple crown
Castillo arrived in Barcelona with a 5.845 doubles DUPR, ranked No. 36 in doubles, and a 5.819 singles DUPR, ranked No. 7 in singles. She left with gold in all three events. [PARTNER NAMES NEEDED: Castillo's women's doubles and mixed doubles partners]
Her 2026 numbers show this run was building. She is winning 64% of her women's singles matches this year, 63% in mixed doubles and 58% in women's doubles.
The doubles trend is the real story. In 2025, her women's doubles win rate fell to roughly a third of matches, and mixed doubles dipped below 50%. Both rebounded sharply in 2026. Her singles has stayed above 60% for three straight years. Barcelona put all three trends on the podium at once.
Katie Morris medals in all three events
Morris matched Castillo's workload and reached the podium in every event she entered:
- Silver in women's doubles
- Silver in mixed doubles
- Bronze in women's singles
She carries a 5.310 doubles DUPR and a 5.355 singles DUPR, ranked No. 49 in singles. Medaling in doubles, mixed and singles at the same event is one of the toughest feats on tour, and Morris did it at the 5.3 level.

Men's doubles: Serrano Ruano and Rodriguez beat the ratings
Alex Serrano Ruano (5.522 doubles DUPR) and Jorge Rodriguez (5.647 doubles DUPR) won the men's doubles title through two teams anchored by players rated above 6.0:
- Def. Zane Navratil (6.258) / Matteo Cugliari (5.039): 5-11, 11-0, 11-1
- Def. Tom Protzek (6.015) / Lennard Tebbing (5.186): 11-7, 5-11, 11-5
The Navratil and Cugliari match was the swing of the week. After dropping the opener 5-11, Serrano Ruano and Rodriguez gave up just one point across the next two games.

Top upsets from PPA Tour Europe Barcelona
Barcelona's biggest upsets came fast and decisively:

- Martin Thomas / Mikołaj Biedermann def. Prycen Haas / Theo Platel: 11-2, 11-3
- James Ling / Eleanor Tomkinson def. Jhonnatan Medina Alvarez / Olivia McMillan: 9-11, 11-6, 11-8
