Attention College Pickleball Clubs!
Welcome back to the 6th season of the College Pickleball Tour. Be on the lookout for new players, new schools, new tournaments and more general information.
Tryouts are approaching so college clubs around the country are preparing to welcome a new group of players. But before there’s one important question clubs need to ask themselves:
Do we want to get all of our new players a DUPR rating as soon as possible?
Give Your New Players a DUPR Rating From Day One
With DUPR Coach, now you can rate players yourself without needing to input any games! If there is someone in your club with a pickleball coaching certification, they can get started right away with DUPR Coach.
Waiting for tournaments isn’t always practical when trying to evaluate where your players stand. For college clubs, this can be a powerful tool at the beginning of the season. Instead of starting tryouts with a roster full of unrated players, you can give your club a consistent starting point and begin tracking player development immediately. And with the College Pickleball Tour continuing to expand its tournament opportunities and pathway to The Nationals, having players ready to compete is more important than ever.

Who Can Become a DUPR Coach?
DUPR Coach is designed to work alongside an existing pickleball coaching certification. It doesn't replace a coaching certification. It gives qualified coaches another tool to evaluate and rate players.
Here is the process:
- Hold a current pickleball coaching certification
- Have an active DUPR rating
- Sign up for DUPR Coach
- Complete your credentials
- Appear on the DUPR Coach Map
- Evaluate players
- Submit their ratings

How to Coach
DUPR Coaches will track 8 different metrics that are crucial to the game and success of an individual player. This can be tracked by small group open plays, team practices, or private drill sessions.
- Serve
- Return
- 3rd Shot Drop
- Volley
- Dink
- Kitchen Readiness
- Court Positioning
- Partner Chemistry
You will have the power to show what you know and give your players the baseline they need to get started.
Leverage Tryouts
Collegiate pickleball is rapidly expanding, with clubs opening their doors to athletes across a diverse range of skill levels.
While some incoming students might boast years of court experience, others are just discovering the sport and picking up a paddle for the first time coming over from tennis.
By using DUPR Coach, your club can instantly define a performance baseline and provide players with clear development goals. Rather than simply wondering, "What is this player's DUPR level?", your team leadership can shift the focus toward:
"What is their current DUPR, and what steps will drive their improvement?"
Ultimately, a Coach-Assigned DUPR is far more than a statistic; it represents the first step in a competitive journey that leads toward sanctioned matches and long-term growth.

Having overall team depth
Having depth in college pickleball is more important than ever. Each team sent to tournaments are able to earn points to earn the bid to The Nationals. DUPR Coach helps schools build depth and interest in players who are fighting for that second or third team spot.
10 points earned by a lower team could be the difference between a bid or not.
Become part of the world's largest pickleball rating ecosystem and help players improve from their Coach-Assigned DUPR to their very first match and beyond!
