We’re introducing three new features to your DUPR profile: Subscores, Career High, and DUPR Impact, along with an enhanced profile experience. As part of this release, you can see the breakdown of your ratings by format and age, track the highest level achieved, and see how scorelines impact your rating before a match is played.

These updates bring more insights into your DUPR Rating, making it easier to understand how performance translates into rating movement. We’ve also made user interface updates on the DUPR app, so key stats are now easily viewable directly on your player profile.

Takeaways

  • Subscores introduce Mixed Doubles Rating and Age-Based Doubles Ratings (50+ and 65+), giving you a more detailed view of performance across formats and age groups.
  • Career High highlights your highest DUPR rating achieved, providing context beyond your current rating.
  • DUPR Impact allows you to explore how different scorelines affect your rating using the Forecast tab in the DUPR app.

*Requires latest version of the DUPR mobile app.

For players, this means:

  • No more rating anxiety. Your Career High proves your peak level, even if your current rating dips.
  • More data. In addition to your DUPR Rating, we’ve added Mixed Doubles and Age-Based Doubles ratings.
  • More opportunities to compete. Clubs can use Career High, Mixed Doubles Rating, and Age-Based Doubles Ratings to structure clinics, ladders, and events, so you’re not limited to a single number.

For clubs and organizers, this means:

  • Flexibility in event structuring. Use DUPR, Career High, Mixed Ratings, or Age Ratings—whatever makes sense for your community.
    • Example: A mixed doubles event could use Mixed Ratings for seeding.
    • Example: A 50+ league could use the Age-Based Doubles Rating (50+) to gatekeep registration.
  • Reduce rating-related stress. Players who fluctuate between ratings won’t feel penalized for natural variation.
  • Better data for draws. Event management platforms can now incorporate subscores into seeding and brackets.

Subscores: Your performance across formats and age groups

We’ve heard from players time and time again:

  • Mixed doubles players want a rating specific to mixed play, where strategy differs from gender doubles.
  • Senior players want ratings that reflect their performance within their age groups.
  • Organizers want more insight into players’ levels to structure programs, events, and tournaments with more nuance.

Instead of relying only on an overall DUPR, subscores provide a more targeted understanding of how you perform across different formats and player segments.

This includes:

  • Mixed Doubles Rating
  • Age-Based Doubles Rating (50+)
  • Age-Based Doubles Rating (65+)

Mixed Doubles Rating

Mixed doubles brings its own unique strategies and dynamics. Court positioning, shot selection, pace, and point construction can all vary based on team dynamics and player roles, making it a distinct and exciting format within the game. Because of this, having a dedicated Mixed Doubles Rating gives you a more accurate view of your performance in mixed play.

Your Mixed Doubles Rating is calculated using only mixed doubles matches. This makes it easier for players and organizers to track progress, measure improvement, and better understand performance in one of the most common formats in pickleball.

Requirement:

  • You need a minimum of 5 mixed doubles matches to obtain a Mixed Doubles Rating.

Age-Based Ratings for 50+ and 65+ Players

Age-based ratings are one of the most requested features from our 50+ and 65+ community. They are designed to capture performance in events with 50+ and 65+ age divisions. Players ages 50 to 64 will have access to the 50+ rating. Players ages 65+ will have access to both 50+ and 65+ ratings, giving you flexibility to compete in either age division when events are gated by one or the other.

Requirements:

  • You must be at least 50 years old.
  • You must have an official DUPR rating (DUPR Coach and AI ratings are not eligible).

Career High: Track your peak performance

Career High shows the highest DUPR rating achieved after your first 8 matches. This provides important context around your level of play, highlighting peak performance rather than only your current rating. In a dynamic rating system where ratings naturally fluctuate, Career High along with the addition of subscores gives a more complete picture of a player’s level.

It also reduces the pressure that can come with rating fluctuations. Even if a rating decreases after a match or tournament, Career High preserves the highest level you’ve achieved.

Requirement:

  • You need a minimum of 8 matches to establish a Career High.

*Requires latest version of the DUPR mobile app.

Mixed, Age-Based, and Career High Ratings Available to API Partners

Subscores and Career High will also be made available to DUPR API partners. Once fully implemented, event organizers on partner platforms can choose to group players and gate events using these subscores, in addition to players’ DUPR, the gold standard in pickleball ratings.

We are actively working with our event and club management partners to roll out this functionality as soon as possible.

DUPR Impact: See how every match affects your rating

DUPR Impact is a new feature within DUPR Forecast, the tool that allows you to simulate matchups and calculate expected scores.

With DUPR Impact, you can now see the predicted rating change for any matchup and scoreline, along with win probability, providing a clearer understanding of both outcome likelihood and rating impact.

Scorelines can also be adjusted to explore how your performance affects your rating. For example, a win of 11–8 versus 11–6 will produce different rating changes, giving you a more precise view of how margin of victory influences your rating.

This creates a more complete and transparent view of how DUPR responds to match results, helping you better understand the relationship between performance and rating changes.

*Requires latest version of the DUPR mobile app.

FAQs

Will my DUPR rating change?

No. Your DUPR remains your official rating. Subscores are additional metrics, not replacements.

How do I qualify for a Career High?

Play at least 8 recorded matches in the DUPR system. Your highest rating will be displayed as your Career High.

Can I use my Mixed Rating for all Mixed Doubles events?

It depends on the organizer. Some may use it for mixed doubles events, while others may stick with DUPR. Check the event details.

Will my club or local league use these new scores?

That’s up to them. DUPR provides the data, but organizers decide how to use it. We recommend reaching out to your club or league director for more information.
